Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt

As a psychotherapist, my work is built on the belief that human beings have an innate ability to heal, guided by both the therapeutic relationship and the wisdom of the natural world. I support individuals through times of distress by integrating nature-based therapy with person-centered and relational approaches.

About

Find Peace in the Wild

Hey y'all! Welcome to New Leaf Psychotherapy! I'm Lauren, owner and psychotherapist at New Leaf. Growing up in a small Appalachian village in southeast Ohio, I developed a profound connection with the land—its foothills, hollows, and streams guiding me to turn to the Earth for solace. From this experience, I learned firsthand the profound healing available to us when we reconnect with the natural world. My work is rooted in the belief that this reciprocal relationship with the Earth serves as a powerful model for cultivating meaningful connections in our daily lives. At the forefront of my work is a deep respect for the individual's journey. I provide a warm and collaborative space for clients of all ages to navigate emotional distress. My practice weaves together the healing power of nature-based therapy with the core principles of person-centered, relational, and psychodynamic approaches. Informed by mindfulness-based interventions, I guide individuals in reconnecting with their own innate capacity for healing. My professional background includes specialized experience in crisis assessment and risk management with children and teens, ensuring a compassionate and safe environment for every client. I work with couples and families to navigate challenges and build deeper connections, whether through telehealth sessions or in enriching outdoor settings. My practice is designed to help you attune to your individual and shared feelings, develop powerful resourcing skills, and improve communication and bonding. By integrating various therapeutic approaches, I aim to empower your family to connect with your inherent strengths and values to find a path forward. Currently providing outdoor sessions in the East Bay Area. Inquire for more information.
